February 25, 2013

Pachuca will be its own mission so all of Tulancingo, Pachuca and other parts of Hidalgo will be its own mission. That’s crazy!  So I will either be sent back to Pachuca to finish the mission or stay here in Mexico. Wow that’s pretty cool. All the missionaries are pretty stoked and maybe they will take part of the Tampico mission and add it to the mission Pachuca and then if everything falls right Spencer and I will be in the same mission!!!! Fat chance but it could happen. They would have to send me and Spencer to Pachuca mission. Wouldn’t that be hilarious.

Anyway this week went pretty good. Next week we have transfers. Things are going pretty good with my comp right now, but on Monday through Thursday he didn’t talk to me at all. He got mad because I told him we couldn’t baptize this 15 year old girl because she is going to school right now on Sundays, and can’t go to church. So when school lets out and she can go to church again and there’s no blocks in her way she can get baptized, but right now is not a good time. He wanted her to miss school one day to get confirmed and baptize her the Saturday before, but why baptize someone when we fully know that they can’t complete with the commandments? It sounds completely illogical.  He got over it after 3 days. So on Thursday the announcement came out that the mission was going to divide, and he couldn’t really keep his mouth shut at that moment, so he spoke to me again and everything has been going well since.

On Sunday we only had 74 at church which was kind of cruddy. The mission has changed a lot. Everybody is focused on the number of people that go to church not how many they baptize. It’s kind of weird.

Sounds like things are pretty crazy back home.  The ward should have "fill out your mission papers night" ha-ha.  Now that so many people are going why don’t they just do it together ha-ha… Lindsey in Brazil?  Let’s see how that goes. What does Landon have to say about that?

On Thursday i got kind of sick. I think it’s just a cold, but I’m getting over it now slowly. Hey Dad, can you send me the talk that says "the salvation is personal" please?  I have been wanting to see that talk, because it seems to me that a lot of people pull it out of context and it doesn’t seem very right to me how they say it.  The “salvation is personal so leave me alone” attitude doesn’t make any sense.

Cool experiences this week.

Marcos a recent convert that has about a year, but a year inactive we reactivated him! This week he gave a talk in church and it was super good. He is a writer so he used some fancy language, but it turned out pretty cool. He even told a few jokes, but nobody laughed because he was kind of nervous… and no one knew if he was joking or not. On Saturday he told us he didn’t want to talk because he didn’t have a white shirt. Right now he has had a lot of trouble with his job, so he couldn’t buy one. I gave him one of mine and a tie that I had.  I figured I have enough, and if I don’t oh well that’s alright he needs it more than I do.

Another cool experience –this guy Teodoro is also a recent convert he has about 5 months going to church, but about 4 weeks ago he stopped coming and we passed by a bunch of times, but he was never home. I wondered what could be happening. Turns out that he used to hang out with his bosses and drink a lot before getting baptized, but what happed was his bosses started drinking so much that it got in the way at work and they ended up not being able to pay the rent on their auto body shop, because they spent too much money on booze. So Teodoro with all the money he didn’t spend, because he became a Mormon he paid the rent and kicked his bosses out. Now he is the boss and he hired some other guys to work with him. So he wasn’t going to church because he was still figuring everything out, and working a lot because they had fallen behind because of the bad management. Now they are on schedule and we talked to him last night and he explained the situation. He says that this week he will go to church. I guess it was bad that he didn’t go to church but how cool is it that! He became the boss because he was Mormon! Anyway that was the week. I gotta go because it’s getting late. Thanks for everything. Elder H
