July30 2012

This week I was transferred to the san felipe ward! It is in the district federal of México City. So basically I am in this place that kind of looks like downtown St Louis with bigger buildings on concrete. Okay my companion is Elder Cruz....I will try very hard to say good things about him in the letter because that’s what we have been asked and what not. But basically he is here in the mission because his girlfriend sent him. He didn’t want to go, but his girlfriend sent him on the mission more than anything to get rid of him because she didn’t want to get married. Kind of a long story but his girlfriend waited about 4 months and then got married and has a baby on the way. Anyway if you catch my drift he is not the greatest missionary in the world.

We are working I am now senior companion and he has 2 months more than I do. Obedience for him has a whole different definition than it does in my book, but we will work and baptize. I hope and pray.

I had a big long chat with my district leader about the whole thing and he basically told me I was called to this area to convert and change my companion. I felt swamped and unprepared especially when he knows that area and sometimes I feel a little taken advantage of when we end up in places that we are not supposed to be in and I thought we were going another way. I need to stop talking about him because it’s not very Christ-like. I have been keeping a lot of this in. Anyway little by little I will do my best to be obedient and try not to drag the kid but help him walk again. The area is super different than Tulancingo a bunch of people live here and the other area we had miles and miles of area to contact and work. Here we have like 30 streets max. I feel like I’m caged in hahaha! Things are going alright. My district leader shared a scripture with me in 2 Nephi 16 verse 8 I think it says "here am I send me" anyway he told me I was chosen to help my companion and don’t give up and don’t pass by the chance to help somebody change. This is definitely the hardest task I have ever had to deal with in the mission. I’m kind of frustrated as I haven’t felt like this since my time with Elder Lujan --my trainer. Anyway pray for me please and I will be praying also. I am going to hope that we see a best two years type of thing here.

If you want to look up my colonial--that’s what the little neighborhoods are called. They’re not really neighborhoods they are like little divisions of the city it’s called San Felipe, Mexico City Federal District. This is like being called to serve in Washington D.C. but an even bigger city. It’s pretty wild.

The house is a wreck. I got here and it was pretty dirty but other than that it’s just kind of 4 concrete walls beds and a couple of windows that’s about it. Honestly I don’t care about the house because there are other things to worry about. That’s about all for me. Thanks for the love and support I love you all. Please pray for me.

Hope everything is all good over there in St. Louis.

Bye Elder Hendricks
