Cam's letter Monday August 6th 2012

This week was way better. I don't know if you guys were praying for me or what but it really worked out. Anyway, what happened was I talked to my district leader about it and he and I talked to Elder Cruz together. He basically said that he was just doing what he did with his other companion and he didn't know I wanted to be obedient. I guess that's my fault for not telling him straight up the first day but also it is really required. So I found out the guy is easier mold than I thought. Only a couple times he put up a fuss about my obedience but honestly we are working quite well together and have found a balance. I think the other letter I kind of typed because I was scared more than anything. I felt like my companion was a bullet train without brakes and we were headed for trouble, so I kinda freaked. Anyway, the guy doesnt study very well and listens to music that is somewhat borderline, but I will just help him little by little. I think he will catch the drift. The truth of it all is that it has made me very obedient, almost perfect! He is always waiting for me to do something wrong and then he jumps on me. One time I spit in the street because a bug flew in my mouth and he told me that spitting in the street is against the rules because president said that once. HAHAHA!

Honestly I don't really care about the little obedience joke that he throws at me every once in a while because as a whole we are obedient. There are things that he could change to be obedient but I feel like Justin is right, you can't change your companion. You can only set an example. If you try to change them they will either freak out or grudgingly obey you. Then when you leave, they will do everything they couldn't do when you were there.

We are doing better. Things have changed and we are better friends. But even the members know the guys a little edgy. Anyway, we were teaching this 14 year old girl that's here on vacation. She lives in Medida, Mexico. She wanted to get baptized but her mom wouldn't let her. She's super ready and read all of the pamphlets that we have, (haha) prayed and received an answer that the church is true. She also found a preach my gospel. (She is the cousin of the members that we live with. Well, we don't really live with them but there are like 3 houses together and they live above us. I guess a missionary left his preach my gospel.) So, she started reading it and then showed Elder Cruz some parts of the book that said we shouldn't talk bad about other people.  It was really funny how a little 14 year old girl totally slammed E. Cruz with his own manual!!

This week was good. We have a baptism for next week and this week we found somebody that said they were members but they don't have a record in the church so we filled out a form and submitted it. That counts as a baptism for us. The member's dad that we live with isn't a member because he can't stop smoking. I gave him some tips on addictions. He felt really good about the whole thing and accepted his baptismal date. So that's pretty sweet.

Anyway, that's about it this week. You should look up my house one google maps. it's on the street "tixla" in the colonial San Felipe De Jesus. It's a blue house with a white door. I will give you the other street names when i memorize them. The street isn't very long and I'm willing to bet that you can find my house on street view.

Bueno
