Question from Mom:
Dad and I went to the temple Saturday afternoon to do some initiatory ordinances for some family names we have from Grandma H. I started thinking about the temple that is in your mission. Dad and I started talking about how we haven’t heard you say anything about it. Do they let the missionaries attend the temple? Is that something you will get to do? How close are you to the temple?
How close am I to the temple...tomorrow we will go to the temple but we won’t be able to go inside. All the change meetings are in a chapel near the temple. So tomorrow we will take 2 buses to the temple one will take 1 hour and the other 2, so like 3 hours more or less. We can only go to the temple on Christmas and when you go home, and if one of our investigators after 1 year of waiting we can go with them. I went once already in December. It was super weird in Spanish and I was new and all. I remember I was super lost even after going a bunch of times before the mission and in the mtc.
Anyway this week has been good we have been working hard and keeping it on. But changes are tomorrow and I am going to stay here with another elder and Elder Sebastian will leave to who knows where. I’ll have to say goodbye to my favorite companion that I have ever had. Oh well there is always different cool stuff to come. I will probably stay here with a new companion and it’s likely that I will lead the way here in stake Tulancingo ward insurgentes!! But who knows I’ll find out tomorrow when we head out to Mexico. Anyway this week went good we baptized the son of a less active family. The sad part is we were going to baptize both of their sons but their dad ran away to work in some other state all of a sudden and left the family here. One of their sons got kind of mad and decided that for some reason the actions of his father means that he shouldn’t get baptized but we are hoping he will come through this week after he saw the baptism of his brother. His name is Adan Sanchez Aguirre.
He is a pretty big guy for only 12 years old but when I lowered him down into the water he freaked out and flung his arms out so my arm that was under him he punched it out in panic. Anyway the good part is that he went totally under. Every time I have baptized somebody here in Tulancingo something weird happens. Like the other time I baptized one lady and she came up coughing and everything. That was kind of funny. But this guy is good-- a total stud. Ana and Antonio are doing good to but Ana told us today that she’s not going to keep on going to church because Elder Sebastian is leaving....she is kind of interesting. I am pretty sure the whole thing is kind of a joke but if she really does stop I’m going to have to go talk to her. She kind of fell in love with Elder Sebastian after the baptism. It was kind of weird but I think what I’m going to start doing is asking the ward to baptize and confirm so stuff like this doesn’t happen. It’s better that way.
This week we saw a car wreck from outside of our apartment window it was pretty interesting I sent a picture of it anyway car wrecks are a huge deal in Mexico because nobody has insurance so if you hurt someone you could be paying a lot of money for a long long time.
That’s one of the pictures. The other one is the other day I put 2 pairs of pants in a bucket with some water and about 10 min later I pulled them out of the bucket and that’s what the water looked like. Kind of gross huh. It’s because Mexico is super dusty there is always dust flying down the street and we walk on a lot of dirt roads too.
anyway sounds like things are going well at home looks like Jordan’s following in his brothers footsteps and starting with the beard thing too. Anyway sounds like the whole family is hanging out. Ok Sunday the 13 I don’t really know what’s going on with that we will have to see hopefully I can Skype and what not if not that will be a bummer I’ll have to figure everything out but I will probably call you at like 4 or something after church and lunch. I’ll check on that this week so I can tell you next week. I would like to Skype it would sure be cheaper. Anyway thanks for all you do.
That’s about it. I kind of feel like my letters aren’t really that satisfying. Everybody says that they’re worried about me...well mom and dad that’s not really a new thing but why are you worried about me. I’m on the Lords errand! Ha-ha that movie was super silly --I’m doing good. If you want me to write about something then just ask.
创Share with us the details of last week’s baptism. I would like to know a little more about the convert’s experience in choosing to be baptized.创
This is something mom put in her letter so maybe I can talk a little bit about this...
Honestly I don’t really know how to respond to that, we started the baptism after church it went one hour and I gave a 5 minute talk on the Holy Ghost and Elder Sebastian baptized him. About his decision to get baptized? It went kind of like this. About a week before the baptism we asked him how he felt about getting baptized and he told me that he thought it was a good idea (he’s about the most relaxed person I have ever met) and he told us that he hadn’t read too much of The Book of Mormon. We told his wife and him they can grow together in their marriage if they read together so that week at night they started doing that. We called him up and set up an interview. He came at 7 am to the church for his interview because he works all day that was the only time he could do it. Anyway then on Sunday after church he got baptized. Honestly it was pretty relax deal.
But I hope that answers your question.
Anyway I got to go but thanks for the prayers and the help. Tomorrow I should get all the stuff you sent to me. Later.
