Cameron's letter April 23

Letter from Cameron April 23 2012

This week was pretty interesting we have been working with the zone leaders because we feel like we are missing something in our teaching more than anything. We asked for divisions with the zone leaders....super sweet! I went with Elder Nelson and Elder Sabastian with Elder Cataldo. Elder Nelson physically works less hard than us as we walk a ton, but when it comes down to the moment the moment to deliver the goods-- Holy Cow I have never seen anybody serve it up and lay it down like he does. I learned a ton from him about how we are supposed to work here in Mexico. I’m pretty sure it works because he put 8 in the chapel and we only had 1. So we are looking at a lot of change here this next week, more than anything in the first lesson. How he took the gospel and applied it to their life was amazing. I was sitting in one lesson with him with my mouth open not wanting to say anything for fear that I would mess the whole thing up.

I couldn’t believe how open they where to talk about their past life and how fast they accepted the commitment to be baptized. It was honestly a mission changing experience. All in all he does have about 22 months in the mission and I have 7, so I guess there should be a difference. More than anything it really was an eye opener to how we should work and what we are missing as teachers right now. All in all we had a baptism this week so that’s good. Jose Antonio Cortez Lopez that’s his name, Mexicans always have like 4 names because they carry both the names of their parents plus a middle name.

How is your comp? ok I will. He is still working and we are still pushing it to the limit. Who knows if he will actually get changed or not.

What is Tulancingo famous for besides  “El Santo”? I don’t know who is El Santo but I think it might be a famous luchador. There is a statue of him in my area that we pass by every once in a while. I should take a picture next to it. Other famous things Guagalotes. mmmm super tasty they don’t make them anywhere but here. They’re super good. anyway Elder Finnegan must have prayed a lot in the MTC. It sounds like he got a super sweet comp!! That’s awesome, somebody that really helps him out and understands the situation. He’s in right now and he’s obedient what a plus! How sweet is that I’m super stoked for the guy and hope he is doing well.

I will say one thing I knew he would have a huge reality check when he got to Mexico with the Spanish and all that. that’s exactly how it was for me. Any way just keep on磌eepin on碼nd soon or or later he will get it. My Spanish is still pretty rough but I thank the lord every day the people at least understand me. Something that happened that was super funny with Elder Nelson was we knocked this door and a lady walked out and said ∣h perdon mormones yo soy catolica创 and then Elder Nelson responded with a 创oh mucho gusto catolica...yo soy elder nelson创 I almost started laughing and then I asked him after if he knew what he did..and he said he thought her name was catolica. Ha ha ha I guess Parker can translate that and tell you why its funny...honestly the things that the people here do are so hilarious every day something else happens that we almost die laughing. I wish I could share them all but it would take to much time. with time I can read pretty fast but sometimes its hard to type a lot, but I get kind of board that’s why my letters are kind of short...oh president sent everybody a message and said that I can call home for Mother’s Day the 13 of May. Who knows I don’t know how I will do it but whatever—I’ll figure it out maybe on Skype that would be cool and super cheap.

Haylee- you can hang out in my room as long as you want and eat all the food you want and sleep in there to!! Heck it’s not being used so you’re definatly welcome to it. oh and if you want you can check out my root beer bottle colection its super sweet!! Have a good time and enjoy the bed because I loved it they dont make beds as sweet as that in Mexico even though the one I have right now is pretty sweet. Just make sure you keep Parker playing the piano so he doesnt look stupid like me when he is playing in church on his mission!! haha

I don’t have a picture of our apartment building from the outside I will just have to take one and send it. We live in a super nice apartment. Oh, I’m super jealous that Spencer has a washing machine, that’s unheard of here in Mexico.

President just sent us a letter on washing clothes this is why I do it by hand.

He said that we can’t use washing machines of members and if a member wants to wash our clothes we have to pay her 50 pesos each missionary for the clothes. And so I figure its easier to just do it by hand and only buy soap. I’ve got it down to a system now. Anyway this week has been great and we baptized so that was even cooler. Antonio told us when he put on the white shirt that we loaned him that he looked like chorizo ha-ha that’s hilarious! Landon will understand.

Anyway thanks guys have a good week.

Elder Hendricks
