Letter from Elder Cameron Hendricks
Wednesday, September 28, 2011
Things are good when you send the letters via dear elder.com I have time to get to read and respond. My companion is elder Fieldsted. I think somebody had a question about that. So I have seen so many people from USU up here especially from my mission prep class and I saw Kap Sanders and Stephen Hunsaker this morning. It’s pretty cool and our district is way awesome this one elder, Elder Wallace , he and I have become pretty good buds he’s is way into politics and loves talking about it he even asks the teachers what is going on in the polls. He’s really funny but he is also into all this weird church history false doctrine stuff...mostly the anti-Mormon stuff. I think has read a lot of it or something because he is always trying to bring it up with the teachers which I think is awkward for everybody...for example he brought up how some apostle wrote that blacks will never have the priesthood and asked the teacher why he said that...he knows the answer I think he just likes to spark controversy.. any way enough about that. My Spanish is getting way better I have been learning way more and have really been enjoying the MTC. Spencer to Tampico that’s so awesome! I’ll take a picture of the map because the one he got probably stinks like mine. I sent a letter to him. Not sure if it got to him haven’t heard anything but it has only been a week. It’s so funny how people really get worked up over the mail I thought that the best 2 years was a joke but it’s kind of true letters from home is what they love. So this week has been pretty normal not too much to report...so I’m not supposed to plan to meet family here but I guess if Landon (has a new job at the MTC) wanted to show up at 18m room 450 some time it would be cool. I’m basically always there as we study so much. This week has been amazing but I need to get more sleep I’m always so tired during the day and then I go to bed right at 10:30 but I just lie in bed till 12 or sometimes 1 which is really frustrating. Anyway I have had a little trouble with my roommates lately they like to just kind of do things their own way and bend the rules there good guys but sometimes it’s annoying. For example we have a contraband mini fridge in our zone that gets passed down along with other silly things like the Urim and Thummim and the sweater of power and the shorts of power. It’s really stupid and vain. To top it off they gather everyone together and pass it down somewhat sacrilegiously by reading some scriptures and acting like Samuel the Lamanite. Anyhow so our roommates have the mini fridge now and if someone ever gives me the fridge I’m going to get rid of it. That is kind of what I want to do ha-ha. Anyway my companion doesn't really like the whole vain tradition either so that’s good. We pretty much stay out of it as much as we can but most of the passing down goes on in our room because Carlson and Sulom the two elders who are with us are pretty popular in the zone. Man I am such a slow typer and this keyboard it killing me, it’s crazy hard to type on. Well I’m almost out of time there are so many things I wanted to tell you but I always forget when I sit down. By the way I have been super good at writing in my journal and the myth about the tree of life showers in the MTC is false. They are all separated. The food has absolutely no fiber in it and really backs you up. It tastes decent, but I’ll probably get really sick of it by the time I leave. They serve hamburgers like every day. Any way things are great and the study is going well. Thanks
Cameron....aka Elder Hendricks
