Letter from Elder Cameron Hendricks

This week has been great! I’ll tell you about the MTC.  mom asked some good questions.

When you come to the MYC first thing you notice is that there are a lot of rules I’ve broken like 3 unintentionally like not shaving every day and playing catch in the residence hall..Whoops I guess I know now so I won’t make that mistake again. So we wake up get ready for a half hour and go to personal study which takes like 30 min then we eat breakfast. The meals here are alright the food is decent much better than Cetero research food. Some Elders have gained weight my companion wanted to gain some so he eats like a horse every day and has tacked on 15 pounds which puts him at 190 but he is 6'3" so he doesn't look fat or nothing. I have gained 3 pounds... I think no big deal. Then we study and we have a teacher come in and we will learn a lesson and then the teacher leaves and plays the part of an investigator which is so funny some times. We teach them in Spanish and most of the time it doesn’t go so hot because there is so much you want to say but not the vocab to do it. It’s hilarious though everybody makes silly mistakes. For example last time I told him he should read the book of Mormon with his family and pray and eat with his family but I accidently said "comer su familia" which means "eat your family" I should have said "comer con (with) su familia" he laughed and laughed and then said in English "you want me to eat my family?" and we laughed and laughed and I corrected myself. But other people have done things ever funnier on guy in the district tried to say that he was embarrassed to an investigator for some reason so he said "yo imbersante" I don’t think that’s the right spelling but that means I'm pregnant! So it was hilarious after you teach you just go back to the classroom where everyone is and tell everyone what happened and we all have a good laugh. My district is pretty cool we’re pretty strict everybody says ours is run like a dictatorship. I don't think so I like it. They say that because our DL says that you have to meet in the classroom for every personal study not outside in your PJ's. I guess it would be cool to study outside but does that really matter? Ok so real quick I’ll tell you about laundry every p-day you come down and do your laundry it’s a good idea to send detergent with anybody who comes to the MTC, because you can buy it here but its way expensive. I and another elder bought our soap at the bookstore where you can get it at a better price per load. And I bought some shout for my shirts which works great. My companion is a great guy but I don't think he has learned that much in the way of laundry he said when he went to BYU-I he would just take all his clothes and throw them in the washer on cold... ha-ha so I helped him sort his laundry and what not. Last week I bought hangers to hang my shirts up with right after I pull them out of the dryer. That way you can skip the ironing part. Ha-ha sorry mom...and grandma. But my companion didn't do that and it took him way shorter to do his laundry because I was doing that... I think he thought I was being stupid and didn't need to do that. But then the next day he asked me why his shirts where so wrinkly and mine not so. So I explained what I was doing the day before and he said that was a pretty good idea so that’s what he does now. He’s learning so I just try to be nice and teach him without making fun. Anyway then we have gym time gym is the best I used to play volleyball  every day and I got really good but now I’m more into basketball I didn't want to play basketball because I was afraid I would be terrible but if you just find the right guys to play with it can be way fun. (I got a fat blister on my foot and this guy in my district popped it with a needle he is some sort of err nurse of something and it healed up pretty good). I’m getting pretty good at it, and my companion just works out every gym time. He wants to get big so he can fight off gang members in Mexico...that’s what he told me, anyhow. As for spiritual things conference was great 2 temples in Provo! Cool. And the talks were great it seemed so short and I took more notes than ever before. We had Chad Lewis come in and talk to us on Tuesday it was funny its sounded like a spiritual version of an ESPN interview I guess he was the tight end for the Eagles and a Mormon. Any way I have got to go so have a good week.
