letter from Cameron

July 8, 2013

Tomorrow we both have changes and Elder Ames is coming back home! We are both leaving the area and my old comp who started his mission in this area then was moved to the other side is coming back. What a surprise! I don’t know where they will send me, but I’m sure glad I have transfers. It has been stressful being here with my companion, but anyway another story for another day. Let’s just keep looking forward. Tomorrow we will be heading to the temple and it will be a good time. We will see the new missionaries from the north east mission. We will find out who got sent to Pachuca and who stayed here. We did end up baptizing 3 people-- the sister whose husband died and her two kids. It was pretty cool, but the sister has a weird name and I wasn’t there to get everything cleared up. I didn’t notice in time as my comp told me he would do everything fine and to not worry. So I took off on divisions with another elder hoping that everything would turn out, but you know how it is sometimes. Anyway they put the right name down but then when she got baptized she told the ex-missionary that we had baptize her other name. I guess he didn’t hear so she was baptized under the wrong name, and I didn’t notice until we got to the house and I looked at the paper that my comp had filled out.  So we had a special service for her on Sunday that consisted of a hymn, a prayer, a baptism and another prayer. That’s how it goes sometimes. She didn’t get confirmed, but at least she came back and was willing to get baptized again. Anyway it all worked out alright and they are all baptized now. We set a goal to baptize 5 people this transfer and baptized 6 so that was pretty cool-- one for every week, but it was pretty dang hard. I have never felt so weighed down in a long time. I felt like every hour I had to animate my comp and then the rest of the members and then the investigators. But it’s not worth complaining --things are good. Tomorrow I have faith that they will be better.

Elder Ames is pretty excited to have his old area back and I got your package. I gave my companion all the socks that you sent because he was complaining.  Anyway thanks for the shirt. When we went ice skating I had one of my old shirts on and somebody grabbed on to me as I fell down and it ripped, so that stinks but what can you do. I think with these ones I will be able to get through the mish. Thanks for the support and help. Pres Anaya seems pretty cool. He’s a powerful teacher-- not an ex-missionary which kind of surprised me, but was bishop when he was 22 and got married at 20. Kind of interesting. Oh ya and got baptized at 19 --crazy anyway thanks a lot! I sent pix to Dad.

Elder Hendricks
