Wow Keisha is pregnant, that’s pretty cool! But if the baby’s due in September I’m going to miss it because I come home 30 of September, but that’s alright. Isn’t this old news because if the baby is due in September and we’re in April that means she’s like 4 months pregnant. I guess the news takes a while to get all the way down here to Mexico.
Big news --rumor has it that Barrio Rio de Luz will receive 1 set more missionaries maybe this will help the bishop call a mission leader. I’m actually kind of frustrated, because the bishop basically told us that we have to reactivate someone to be our mission leader. I guess I can’t blame him, because he is also working without one counselor. The ex bishop that I was visiting came to church this week and since he came to church I talked to the bishop about calling him as mission leader. The bishop told me that technically he lives outside of our area by half of a street. I decided to see if I could reactivate one of the recommended mission leaders that are inactive. The bishop gave me a list. So we went to one with the strait up idea of telling him to come back, because we need a mission leader....terrible idea. He took it as a sob story and told me after the visit to not offer him any work in the church, because he’s burned out. I don’t know… I thought it was a stupid excuse. Sometimes I can't believe the lack of work ethic here. I don’t know --it’s hard reactivating people. It seems like getting people on the train is easy, but getting them back on after they have gotten off is terribly hard. I know the fact that it’s hard is something that’s preparing me for harder situations in the future. I feel like we will be able to focus in more, I feel like Matthew 9:37-38 is a good explanation for my area right now.
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;
Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
The lord will send more workers.
The good news was the ward activity was super cool. We got a hold of a little bus and went caroling in the summer to less actives. There were 25 people who came --a pretty good turnout. When we explained the activity the ward was kind of bummed out. I guess they thought it was stupid, but we started and at the first house they got excited because we had the whole family in tears. They were super touched that we came by to sing to them. A sister in the ward helped us make cookies, so we dropped a bag of cookies off with a song. It was super cool! I’ll send some pics. Anyway that was the week pretty cool. The new elders will get here next transfers. We will have to find an apartment for them.
Anyway later,
Elder Hendricks
