Elder Cameron Hendricks Mission Letter/April 8, 2013
This week was crazy!!! Monday thru Wednesday was pretty normal, but Wednesday was where it got pretty crazy. We ate "sopes" --it’s like a thick corn tortilla fried with beans on top and lettuce. They’re pretty good, but kind of greasy. I ate like 7 because I was pretty hungry and they were pretty tasty, but then after the food I felt pretty sick. I bought some yogurt, because I thought it was the spicy salsa that was bothering my stomach. Anyway as the day went on I progressively felt worse and worse. At 7:30 we went over to a less actives house to teach a lesson and about half way through I felt even sicker. I figured we would end quickly and get outside incase I needed to throw up. We finish and were about to leave when the guy asks us for a blessing. I couldn’t tell him no, so I told my companion to do it. About half way through the blessing I felt the urge to puke and I kind of gagged up a little. My companion started laughing because he heard me so I took my hands off his head and tried to open the front door. Something was wrong with the door and the bolt lock wouldn’t turn, so I bolted to the bathroom. As I got to the bathroom I couldn’t take it anymore and as I opened the door I threw up very powerfully like a fountain and throw up went all over the mirror and their toothbrushes!! Then I tried to open up the toilet in between the first and second round, and as I bent over to open it up it came again about as strong as the first time and I puked all over the toilet and the wall as I tried to retreat to the sink again. At this point I felt better as I had the just thrown up sensation and started to do what I could to clean up, but as I came to my senses I heard laughing outside of the bathroom so with water and basically my hands I cleaned up what I could. My goal was to make it not look so bad, but I came out and said..."it’s bad!" They laughed and gave me a rag so I cleaned up a little more, but after a while I felt sick again, so my companion helped me clean and I ended up sitting back down because I was feeling sick. I told him to clean some of it up. He finished even though it wasn’t really to my liking, but I couldn’t really do anything because at this time I felt like I was going to die, or throw up again. After about 40 times of cleaning we took off, but I felt terrible.
We walked back to the house and when we got back my comp started telling me to get in the shower, and do this and a whole bunch of stuff. It honestly got on my nerves and I kept thinking is he a doctor or what. I got in bed and he gave me a bucket for if anything happened during the night, so at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 I threw up. I had basically nothing in my stomach. At 2:30 after throwing up I drank some water, because I was thirsty, so then at 3:30 I just puked the water that I had drunk. It was pretty rough, so on Thursday we didn’t work and we stayed in all day. I slept and felt pretty junky all day. I now have some pretty nasty diarrhea that’s been causing some problems, and I think I have to go get lab tests to see what I have. That’s what the mission doctor told me to do. But all in all I feel a lot better. It’s just the bowel movements that are keeping us close to the house.
I saw conference without any problems and it was pretty cool. I liked conference -- it was great! I think it’s interesting how many references they made to the New Testament as I am reading that right now. It’s interesting how they take 2 or 3 verses and make a long super great talk about verses that I read and understand, but in not the same way.
