December 17th 2012

This week was pretty crazy. On Tuesday we started teaching the brother of a member his name is Moses. He’s 24 and smokes like a chimney but he wants to turn his life around.  So we were teaching using example after example to try to get him to understand, but he still had this look on his face like he didn’t understand anything. After 10 attempts to help him understand he says...”So if I understand right baptism is kind of like the sensu bean on dragon ball z.” I just busted out laughing! I couldn’t hold my laughter in. I was basically dying and from there on we started to teach him, but everything relating with dragon ball z and like magic he started to understand and expand his ideas related to dragon ball z. It was hilarious, but it worked super well.

There is this weird rumor in the mission that if you make a tobacco tea and smokers drink it then it will make them throw up. When they throw up they won’t want to smoke anymore because the tobacco grosses them out. I’m not sure if it works or not, but it did work with this guy believe me we tried it. He threw up and told us that when he smoked again he was kind of grossed out, but he just kept on smokin! Wow, I was quite disappointed. Oh well, we will see what happens with him because he is no longer our investigator. My companion and I both have changes!!!! President is taking us both out of here and who knows why -- it’s kind of weird. I think President is having lots of problems with the fact that every change like 14 missionaries go home and only 5 arrive. Who knows what’s going on. This transfer went by so fast it’s crazy, so who knows where I will be tomorrow. Tomorrow we go to the changes meeting to see what will happen.

We are also teaching a doctor that is pretty cool. He is super hard core religious and looking for the truth, but he doesn’t know where to find it. He actually asked us if we give blessings, and without me saying anything asked if I would give him a blessing to find the true church, Wow how cool is that! Hopefully the new elders that get here will find some success with him. I’m kind of sad to leave, but it’s for the best. I have 5 months here and it was a delight! I feel like I did what I could and completed well. The ward might not be the best or might not be exactly the vision I wanted it to be when I left, but I feel like I helped it out a lot and it’s much better now than when I got here. Hopefully more missionaries will arrive and lift it more.

Natalie --wow that’s a pretty crazy story sound like they that wait upon the Lord have been renewed. The debit card hasn’t arrived and I hope it doesn’t get stolen. I got a bunch of packages, one from Grandma Murdock one from Dad and Mom and another one from the Finnegan’s I opened them up and ate some of the candy but all the rest I packed up to take to my next area. Hopefully it won’t be too far away. Wish me luck; I think I’m going to Molango!!! You will have to wait and see until next week.

....huge rumor here in México!! Everybody is freaking out because they say this 21 of December there will be 3 days of darkness and the promise that is made in Joel 2:10 is going to come to pass!! Ha-ha --they said that Obama came out and told the United States that they needed to buy candles and blankets because there will be 3 days without the sun. They say that the world is going to freeze, but I have yet to see a credible source on all of this junk. And they say it will happen because of a comet that is going to cause an eclipse. Alright we will see what happens, but it kind of cracks me up.

So we are all packed up and ready for tomorrow. Hopefully I will get a good companion, but if the Lord wants me to help a difficult one well "Donde me mandes iré"

Elder Hendricks
