This week was quite interesting every week something crazy seems to happen every day. this week was basically normal until Thursday so I will start with Thursday.
During the week I was a little disappointed because of this family--losing a little bit of faith in them because they were just not acting like the church was what they wanted in their lives. We passed by on Thursday and basically saw a miracle. We get in the house and their dad was gone, he had to leave or something before so he wasn’t there, and so we start talking about this activity and the note that they wrote me and I talked about the iron rod and how if we are holding on the iron rod and on the path this life is much easier but what is the first step of starting on the strait and narrow path. I was slowly getting to baptism more and more but then there kid says totally out of the blue "What do I have to do to get baptized this week?" I was basically shocked I thought I was going to have to bring this topic up and then his little brother repeated the same thing! I told him everything is ready--all you need is white clothes and he told me that he wanted to get baptized last week but his parents didn’t let him...so I then asked his mom what she thought and she told me she already wanted to get baptized but she wants to do it with her husband. So we set their baptismal date for the 3 of June. I was pretty pumped leaving there but I still had to talk to their dad to figure out what he wanted to do. We came back Saturday after the meal to their area we had planned to pass by there at 8 but my companion said he felt like we needed to go by now. So we went immediately up and knocked their door at about 5pm. They were getting ready to leave to some sort of family gathering near the church. So really quickly we said a prayer and I told the dad that all of his kids and his wife have already made the decision to get baptized and so what does he think about all of it.
He said that he wanted to get baptized but he didn’t want to rush the process he wants to put time in to it and so he told me he wanted to wait a week. but they have some sort of thing going on next week and can’t go to church--some first communion for their god child or something. So they couldn’t do it the next week and I already knew that so I told them that they’re going to wait 2 more weeks to get baptized when you can follow the example of Jesus Christ tomorrow! Then he told me how about the 17th because its father’s day and I told him I would probably leave Tulancingo by then. So their mom said that she wanted to get baptized tomorrow and wanted me to do it. I told that about ending the whole thing but I was surprised how many excuses he made. So we set up an interview for him that night and took off then at about 8 he passed by the church for his interview any way the interview took about an hour I couldn’t believe how long it took. I was freaking out outside thinking that he was going to fail miserably anyways the interview finished and turns out that when he was 18 he got somebody pregnant and they aborted the baby So he needed a special interview with president so we called president he told us to just have the bishop do it because Tulancingo is super far away from his house and he wanted to get them baptized. So we call the bishop and he doesn’t pick up so we said goodbye to the fam and I told him that everything would be fine and he would get baptized the next day and also set up a special interview with the bishop at 9 without talking to him. Then we ran to the bishops house and got there at like 9 at night but nobody was home anyway normally bishops get to church early to have meetings and things but we are in Mexico and sometimes they show up 10 minutes before church starts. So we are sitting on the side walk at the bishops house waiting for him to get home-- worried because we were going to get home late and I knew Elder Nelson was going to call us. So at 9:20 we left a note and started walking home and as we are walking down the street we heard a "Elders!" It was the bishop calling us right in time. We ran back told him that he needed to give a special interview at 9am and we took off. In the morning we prepped everything and headed to church then everything after that worked perfectly. They got there in the morning along with the bishop and the bishop passed them and everything was ready to go. Their family arrived just in time for the baptism at about 1:30 and we started the whole thing up. I baptized the mom and the dad and Elder Garcia Baptized the 2 kids. It was super cool and us 4 missionaries in the ward sang a hymn. Anyway that 24 hours from about 5 Saturday and 5 Sunday was pretty wack but we got it done! They all got baptized this week it was basically a miracle.
Then on sunday night we got back to the house and the whole house smelled like gas so we opened the windows and vented everything out but we didn’t realize until the morning that it was our gas tank that was busted so when the boiler didn’t light I went up above and found the tank broken. So that’s the picture I sent you of our broken gas tank. So all in all our house doesn’t have light...gas...and the toilet is busted so I think it’s time to look for a new house. I guess I could fix all the problems but it would probably be harder than just finding a new house. This member has been bugging me to move in to a house that they own (I guess they have 2 houses) she said she would charge us 1500 pesos. So I think we will move there. Anyway after I finish writing we will go check it out. That is basically the week have a good one!
