Mom made a comment about my English....she’s right my English is terrible. I can’t seem to remember a lot and the other day I was with President in an interview and I sounded like a wound up monkey toy. I don’t know I try not to think in English and I don’t read in English ever. It actually bores me every time I read in English. I feel like I’m wasting time that I could be improving my Spanish. The problem is I don’t have study material left and I have any books left. I have already studied them all and I want more books to read and more topics to study. My comp says I speak fine and the members too, but I don’t know if they don’t hear the mistakes I make or what. I have got to start filling out more vocab cards to expand my vocab. That’s a problem that I have trying to expand my vocab. I seem to be using the same words over and over again. Anyway I also caught myself talking to Sister Hicken in Spanish. And everyone started laughing --I laughed too. What else can I do? If you guys found a good book or something that’s sold on Amazon or something that is for an advanced Spanish speakers you could send me something like that, but make sure it’s a good one and one for Latin America. I don’t want any of this Spanish just what teaches vosotros. The only thing I listen to in English is conference talks because I hate the monotone voices of the interpreters.
Also there is no English spell check so that could be the other half of the problem. There are still a lot of things I don’t know how to say, but little by little I will have to get it done.
Anyway this week went really well Elder Morales really shaped up. I don’t know if it was your prayers or what not, but this week has been great. We are working better together and are finding people to teach. This Sunday we were going to eat at this member’s home but my comp didn’t want to go. I guess they had a few differences or something, but I told him we had to go because I didn’t want to leave the sister hanging. He told me he wasn't going to go, so we did an activity with the future missionaries "a day as a missionary" and they got all stoked. We found some other lady to feed us and my comp went with a future missionary to eat and I took off with another future missionary to eat with the sister that doesn’t like my comp. After we looked for the house for about an hour I was about to turn back, but I remembered seeing a member that lived close so I asked her for directions and we found the house. All during dinner I felt like a Comcast service agent on the complaint line as she told me how terrible my companion was and what not. After the lesson I shared a little thought on forgiveness. I felt good about it, so hopefully she will forgive my comp what happened as it was the mistake of both of them. What happened isn’t something that I should probably write in my letter.
Things are good and we are working. Changes were today I am staying here and my comp is too. We will see another 6 weeks of each other, but that’s alright if he keeps on going how he did this week -- it will be a great 6 weeks. Anyway thanks for everything.
Elder Hendricks
